Agent Identities / MCP quickstart

MCP quickstart

Connect your agent. Start a conversation.

Bring the digital employee you already use. Connect it to Mailrun through MCP, then ask it to send your first email.

Request Access

01 / Give it an identity

Access is coming soon. Request Access on the Agent Identities page. Once your account is ready, you can set up your identity’s email address and phone number and connect the agent you already run.

02 / Connect through MCP

Open the MCP connections settings in your agent’s app. Add the Mailrun connection using the connection details and API key supplied during onboarding, then enable the Mailrun tools you want your agent to use.

The setting may be called Connections, Integrations, or MCP servers, depending on your app. Our team can walk you through your client’s setup.

03 / Set its limits

Choose which tools your agent can access and set its daily email cap. Start small, then give it more room as you get comfortable. Mailrun’s built-in call limits help keep phone usage bounded.

04 / Say hello

Ask your agent: “Send a short introduction to my email address using my Mailrun identity.” Give it an inbox you control, check that the email arrives, and reply.

Then ask: “Check for my reply and tell me what it says.” You’ve just tried both sides of a real conversation.

Ready for calls?

Connect your hosted voice agent to the same identity and try a call. Your voice connection handles the live conversation; MCP puts Mailrun’s tools in your agent’s workspace.
